Band Social Media Feeds

An English-Irish pop boy band formed in London in 2010
Genre: Pop
Type of social media: Instagram feeds
Main content: The content is mainly about the highlight events that the band attend such as some musical competition or festivals (e.g. nomination to Billboard Music Awards) as well as their world tour to celebrate 10 years anniversary. Since it’s a band, every post is consisted of images of the 5 members
Colour scheme: Bright color (e.g. yellow, blue) palette but the background and font is mainly in black
Use of images, video & sound: Images and video are all related to the current events or what they’re doing at that moment which aims to keep the audience up-to-date with the band’s journey. The images also help the audience to partly have a closer connection towards the band as some photos are really basic and plain. Besides updating the latest news, the posts also show the band’s love for their fans. Furthermore, all of the sound appeared on the feeds are from their songs as it can act as a tool for promotion.
Merchandise: Unlike others, One Direction didn’t post anything related to the purpose of selling merchandise such as T-shirts, hats…
Out-links: At the top of their Instagram feeds, there is a link to the 10-years anniversary playlist as this is the most obvious and straightforward area for the audience to access their songs immediately. This can also act as a promoting scheme through the social page with around 22.8 million followers.

Main content: This instagram page is used as a promotional method for the band therefore every post will aim to encourage engagement between audiences and band members. For example, OneRepublic posted a short reel to remind people to make their pre-orders for the new “Dear Santa” playlist. Furthermore, it also recorded the memories from significant events which seems like a little library for future review. To have closer relationships to the mass audiences, OneRepublic shows their sorrow and compassion for the past issues by sharing a written thought.
Color scheme: Mixed color scheme, depending on the period of the band (e.g. Christmas time - bright, colorful color palette)
Use of images, video & sound: The major purpose of images and videos are used to raise awareness of the audiences to the band as well as capturing remarkable moments. Aside from the band’s photos, the Instagram feeds also consisted of various song’s posters to promote for the new release at that moment. Some videos are also used to show the collaboration between the band and the working partner such as Assassins Creed. Likewise One Direction, all of the sound appearing on the feed of OneRepublic are also from their songs with the main aim of advertising.
Merchandise: On the Instagram feeds of OneRepublic, there are lots of types of merchandise being promoted such as shoes, CD packs… With a huge number of 2.6 million followers, the band took advantage of their popularity to promote their merchandise.
Out-links: OneRepublic attached a link on their Instagram bio that consisted of both their merchandise and songs which conveniently increase engagement for both of their wants. Audiences can easily buy shoes, sweaters… as well as have access to listen to the new release song or those popular, old-school ones.

Design: The home page is being covered with a designed logo of the band with the main color scheme of blue, green and orange and the 6 members. As we scroll down the website, we will see 4 main sections: tour, music, instagram and store which gives the brief information related to the band. On the tour section, there will be a timeline of the upcoming concert as well as the previous. The music and instagram sections consisted of the posters of those newest releases. Finally, the store will be an area of merchandise where audiences can purchase their wanted items.
